01

Search traffic is protected

Every indexed URL is mapped to a relevant new page with a 301 redirect, so rankings and backlinks pass to the new site.

02

A modern, faster site

The new design fixes slow templates, cluttered layouts, and weak mobile usability that were holding back enquiries on the old site.

03

Decisions backed by data

Analytics, heatmaps, and search data show which pages earn their place, so the redesign keeps what works and drops what does not.

What Website Redesign involves

A redesign is the riskiest moment in a website's life. URLs change, pages get merged or deleted, and title tags are rewritten. If nobody plans for it, search engines find broken links where ranking pages used to be, and traffic drops after launch. We treat every redesign as a migration project first and a design project second, so the visibility you have earned carries over to the new site.

Before design begins, we crawl the existing site and record every URL, its traffic, its backlinks, and its rankings. That inventory decides what is kept, improved, merged, or retired. Each old URL is mapped to its new home in a 301 redirect map, which is tested on staging before launch. After go-live we monitor Search Console, crawl errors, and analytics closely and fix issues as they appear.

What is included

Deliverables you can point to

Full site crawl

A complete crawl of the current site capturing every URL, status code, title, canonical, internal link, and image, exported as the migration baseline.

Content and traffic inventory

Each page scored by organic traffic, conversions, backlinks, and rankings, then marked keep, improve, merge, or retire with a written reason.

URL mapping document

A spreadsheet pairing every old URL with its new destination, reviewed line by line so no ranking page is left without a home.

301 redirect map

Server-level redirect rules written from the URL map, avoiding chains and loops, and tested against the full old URL list on staging.

New design and build

Wireframes, a design system, and responsive templates built on staging, carrying over the content and on-page elements that already perform.

On-page SEO carryover

Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, schema, image alt text, and internal links migrated or improved, not reset to template defaults.

Pre-launch QA checklist

Staging checks for noindex tags, canonical errors, broken links, missing tracking, form delivery, Core Web Vitals, and redirect behavior.

Post-launch monitoring

Daily checks of Search Console coverage, 404 logs, rankings, and analytics in the weeks after launch, with fixes applied as issues surface.

Process

How the work runs

Benchmark and crawl

We crawl the live site, export Search Console and analytics data, and record current rankings and speed scores. This baseline lets us measure the redesign honestly after launch.

Plan the migration

We decide which pages stay, merge, or go, define the new URL structure, and build the URL map. You approve the plan before any design work starts.

Design and build

We wireframe, design, and develop the new site on a password-protected staging server, blocked from search engines, with your existing content moved into the new templates.

Test on staging

We run the full old URL list through the redirect rules, crawl the staging site for errors, and confirm tracking, forms, and metadata before scheduling launch.

Launch and monitor

We launch in a low-traffic window, remove staging blocks, submit the new sitemap, and watch crawl errors and rankings closely, fixing missed redirects as soon as they appear.

Questions

Website Redesign FAQ

Will a redesign hurt my SEO?

It can if the migration is not planned. Most post-redesign traffic drops come from changed URLs without redirects, deleted pages that were ranking, or metadata reset to defaults. We prevent those with a crawl, a URL map, and tested 301 redirects. Some short-term fluctuation is normal while search engines reprocess the site, and we cannot guarantee rankings, but careful migration removes the avoidable risks.

What is a 301 redirect map?

It is a list that pairs every old URL with the most relevant new URL, implemented as permanent redirects on the server. When someone clicks an old link or Google recrawls an old address, they land on the right new page instead of an error. It also passes link signals from the old page to the new one.

Can we keep our existing content?

Usually yes, and often you should. Pages that already rank or convert are moved across with their core content intact, then improved where needed. Thin, duplicate, or outdated pages are merged or retired with redirects. The content inventory makes these decisions page by page, using traffic and conversion data instead of opinion.

How much does a website redesign cost?

Pricing starts at $6,500 per project. Pricing is scoped per project through a custom proposal. The main factors are the number of pages and templates, how much content needs rewriting, whether the platform is changing, and the size of the redirect map. After reviewing your current site and goals, we send a proposal that lists deliverables, timeline, and payment stages.

Do we need to change platforms?

Not always. If your current CMS is secure, fast enough, and easy for your team to edit, we can redesign within it. We recommend moving only when the platform limits speed, editing, or integrations. If a move is needed, the migration plan covers content export, URL changes, redirects, and retraining your team on the new editor.
